Giant Slayer — Part 5 — June 21, 2026

Preached on Father's Day, this message picks up three key questions Pastor Brian left from the previous session: What has the giant been speaking over your life? What armor do you need? What past victories has God already given you? Drawing from the story of David and Goliath (1 Samuel 16–17), the central truth is that the battle belongs to the Lord — believers aren't meant to fight giants in their own strength, but to rest in the covenant rights purchased by the blood of Jesus.

The sermon exposes how fear enters through hearing. Just as the entire army of Israel was paralyzed by Goliath's words, believers must actively cast down imaginations and take every thought captive. Identity is the second key theme: God anointed you specifically. He saw Paul in Saul, Peter in Simon, Abraham in Abram. Your hidden battles in the "back 40" are shaping the character needed for the public victories ahead.

Giant Slayer — Part 6 — June 24, 2026

This sixth installment continues examining David's life as a template for faith, victory, and praise. David's rewards after defeating Goliath — promotion to armor-bearer, commander-in-chief, and son-in-law — establish that God rewards those who diligently seek Him. His formation in the "back 40s," years alone with God, is the foundation of his giant-slaying faith. He was training for reigning, developing a kingly anointing through association with God. The contrast with Saul is sharp: David sought the King and received the kingdom; Saul pursued the kingdom and lost both.

A significant parallel is drawn with Jehoshaphat's battle in 2 Chronicles 20, where God commanded the worship team to march first. As they praised, the enemy destroyed itself. Psalm 149:6–9 declares that the high praises of God paired with a two-edged sword execute judgment on the enemy. God inhabits the praises of His people — when we praise, our problems become His problems. The fight of faith is trust in what Jesus has already accomplished.

Last Week's Messages

The Gospel of Power — June 14, 2026

Roger Issa opens by celebrating that the Holy Spirit has made Jesus "unlimited" — no longer confined to one place, but present everywhere through His body the church. Faith puts a draw on the Holy Spirit and expects God to move now. The message is grounded in healing testimonies that affirm Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever.

The central declaration is that the gospel of the Lord Jesus is the gospel of power (1 Corinthians 4:20). Every born-again believer is anointed and qualified to pray for the sick. The biggest obstacle is the analytical mind overriding the heart — simple, childlike faith like the Roman centurion's is what moves Jesus. Take the first step; at that moment, holy boldness takes over. The service closes with an extended ministry time and a salvation call: the new birth is the greatest miracle of all.

  • Acts 10:38 God anointed Jesus with the Holy Spirit and power to heal all oppressed
  • Revelation 19:10 The spirit of prophecy is the testimony of Jesus
  • Hebrews 1:14 Angels are ministering spirits sent to the heirs of salvation
  • Matthew 8:5–13 The centurion's childlike faith — "just speak the word"
  • Luke 8:43–48 Woman with issue of blood; touch the hem of His garment
  • Mark 9:17–27 "I believe, help my unbelief" — encouragement for partial faith
  • Matthew 18:20 Where two or more are gathered in My name, there I am
  • Matthew 6:9–13 Your kingdom come; believers are kingdom carriers
  • 1 Corinthians 4:20 The gospel is not in word only but in power (dunamis)
  • 1 Corinthians 2:1–4 Paul came with demonstration of the Spirit and power
  • Acts 4:29 Stretch forth Your hand to heal; signs and wonders in Jesus' name
  • John 14:12 The works I do you shall do also, and greater things

Giant Slayer — Part 4 — June 17, 2026

Continuing from 1 Samuel 17:52–58, this message opens with a powerful observation: when Goliath fell, all of Israel moved. David's covenant consciousness broke the spirit of fear over the whole army — one believer standing in faith can release others into courage.

Drawing a parallel to Elijah, both David and Elijah spent time alone with God, heard His voice, and saw crowds transformed by the results. Elijah's story illustrates what happens when believers listen to the enemy: Jezebel's threat painted a picture of death. God didn't condemn him — He sent angels, food, and a new word. The central contrast is covenant consciousness versus fear: Israel had the same covenant rights as David — they simply weren't standing on them. The battle belongs to the Lord; face your giant knowing Jesus has already defeated every enemy.

  • 1 Samuel 17:52–58 David returns after slaying Goliath; Israel pursues the enemy
  • Luke 1:37 For with God nothing shall be impossible
  • Psalm 34:19 The Lord delivers the righteous out of all their afflictions
